2 podium finishes for this weekend. Keshia started off slowly with a pretty low score but still managing to advance to the next round. That made her wake up and turn into a comp machine getting the 2nd highest combined scores amongst the girls. In the final, the wind picked up making it hard to stay in one spot and also the strong current didnt help either. Still, Keshia managed to finish 3rd as in the last event and due to that, she is ranked NR 1 in Portugal so far :) Great job Kesh.
As for Klaus, he sailed through his heats all the way to the final. On the last day, the waves were slightly bigger and Klaus went out fighting, having to run down the beach a couple of times due to the currents.
With Luis, it was a totally different story, he started off his semi catching a set wave and making the most of it with strong powerful turns, somehow, the judges awarded him a 4.00...... another kid got an inside wave...and the judges gave him a 6.50......are you serious ? Total daylight robbery. If its of any consolation to Luis, they did pretty much the same to another kid. The thing is, it seems to be that, unless you belong to a certain team, you will not get the scores.
I dont like talking about things like this but, the only ones that will come out victorious are kids like Luis because it will make them surf 100 times more and improve. The other kids, because they get their scores boosted in Portugal all the time, they think they are the best of the bunch...until they go to Europe, and then they see the true scores they deserve.
As they say, they are a big fish in a small pond.....Luis will be a big fish in the Ocean.
Stay strong Luis and keep it up, deep down in your heart you know you won that heat.
Excellent results for Keshia and Klaus :) Great job guys.
Next event will be in May in Aveiro but Luis will be off to France to do the European VQS event at the end of April.
xx

Not a bad day at the office
The contest was held at Praia das Bicas today, a totally new beach for everyone so didnt know what to expect. It was surprising to see how unspoiled and beautiful the spot was but those poking out rocks right on the shore didnt look so friendly.....
2 meter waves in the morning saw the first heats of the Under 18's going out, some very hesitatingly I dare add.
Luis won his first heat. Its now down to semis and finals for Luis either tomorrow or Monday.
Keshia and Klaus will start tomorrow, with a drop in the swell, it should make it easier for all surfers.
More news soon :)

TOTAL EYRE DOMINATION
Amazing day :) Luis finished 1st in both Under 18's and OPEN, Keshia finished 2nd in the Girls OPEN and Klaus won the Under 12's.
The waves, although excepted to be smaller, ended up being pretty much the same as yesterday, with strong currents.
Luis totally dominated both finals leaving no doubts who the winner was.
Keshia got the biggest wave of the heat with an amazing drop, making the spectators scream with amazement. Unfortunately she did not get a back up wave.
In Klaus' heat, due to the size, none of the finalists had the arms to paddle to the outside so they all took white water waves.
The best speech in the finals goes to Klaus.....very grown up and straight to the point!
Excellent day, congratulations to all 3airs :)

3airs
3airs is here to tell you about the lives of 3 brothers and sisters.
Luis Eyre is 17 years old, Keshia is 13 and Klaus is 11.
They all surf competitively although at the moment its only Luis that is surfing Internationally.
Born in England, they moved to Portugal ( Lisbon coast ) 6 years ago. As their school was near the beach, they decided that it was a good idea to try surfing as one of the after school activities...and from then on , they were hooked.
Luis has his 1st birthday party in Portugal at the beach and it was a surfing party. He started competing in the local contests and then moved on to Nationals, UK contests and now European and International events.
He is sponsored by O'Neill, Board Culture surf boards, Nike 6.0, Oakley, Futures Fins, Dakine, Surfiberia and Robie Robes.
Keshia has just started competing, as well as Klaus.
Keshia is now sponsored by Onda and Future Fins and Klaus is sponsored by Xcel wetsuits and Future Fins.
We will be updating the blog with their adventures, tours, travels, ups and downs of surfing and what involved their day to day.
Of course we will be adding photos, videos and contests as they do them.
Thanks for reading and following their lives :)
